Girl Is Banned From Classmate’s Sleepover, Then Writes A Shocking Note About Her Racist Parents

Sarcasm... Because Beating the Hell Out of People is Illegal

Harmony Jones couldn’t wait to celebrate her 10th birthday party with her classmates. Her dad even let her throw a sleepover party on a Friday night, so she was especially excited.
But things took a heartbreaking turn when one of Harmony’s friends from school responded to the invitation in brightly colored magic markers. It was a shocking RSVP she and her family never saw coming.
Harmony’s friend admitted in a note that her dad wouldn’t let her attend the sleepover in their hometown of Memphis, Tennessee — because Harmony is black.
The note read: “Maby [SIC] I will not be able to come to your birthday sleepover, because my dad will not let me go because you are black. Not trying to be races [SIC], but my mom let me go. Happy birthday!”
Harmony’s dad Christopher was hurt that the little girl’s father didn’t want his daughter to attend. “It angered me a little bit, it hurt me that my 10-year-old girl had to deal with this, and I myself never thought I would have to deal with this,” he told WREG. However, Christopher understood this was only one parent’s isolated prejudice and did not reflect the views of Harmony’s school or community.
Ultimately, Christopher was praised around the world for keeping such an incredible mindset and not letting one parent’s prejudice ruin his daughter’s special day. “I guess us as parents, (we) need to be more aware and conscious about what we teach our children,” he added.
Despite the disappointing note, Harmony enjoyed a wonderful 10th birthday celebration with her friends who did attend.
